Date: Sept. 20, 2016
Location: Bismarck, ND

Gov. Jack Dalrymple today highlighted the success of the state's workforce development programs and initiatives and applauded workforce and business leaders across the state for their contributions to North Dakota's diverse and skilled workforce. Dalrymple provided his remarks during an address kicking off the 2016 Governor's Workforce and Human Resources Conference held Sept. 20-22 at the Bismarck Events Center.

During his remarks, Dalrymple discussed the many workforce recruitment, retention and development programs available through Job Service North Dakota, the North Dakota Department of Commerce (NDDOC), the North Dakota University System, and Career and Technical Education. He said that over the past decade the state has provided more than $70 million for workforce initiatives, including grants, scholarships, training, internships and recruitment.

"One of North Dakota's greatest strengths has always been and continues to be our talented, hardworking people, and it is integral to strengthen and expand that asset so our state is trained and ready for the careers and opportunities of the future," said Dalrymple. "The state's workforce development efforts have been instrumental in diversifying our workforce and ensuring that our businesses have the workers they need to succeed."

The conference will bring together more than 300 business executives, educators, workforce and human resource professionals, and community leaders from across the state to lay the groundwork for continued talent growth in North Dakota. Attendees will look at the state's fast-changing workforce environment, showcase the best and most innovative ideas that are shaping the nation's workforce arena, and give business leaders an opportunity to influence the development of workforce-related policy.

The conference is hosted by the NDDOC and the North Dakota Society for Human Resource Management.
